Our dungeness crab trips take place in the rich waters off the coast of Northern California. Depending on the season, we operate out of Bodega Bay from the first Saturday of November through the end of the year and sometimes into January. Launching out of Bodega Bay provide prime access to productive crabbing areas, increasing your chances of a successful and bountiful catch.

Our vessel, Dragonfly, is perfectly equipped for crabbing. The 2005 Parker 28′ Sport Cabin, powered by twin Yamaha 250hp engines, offers a stable and comfortable platform for your adventure. With top-of-the-line crabbing gear, including custom crab traps and promar hoop nets, we ensure you have the best equipment to catch these tasty crustaceans.

A typical day crabbing with Reel Obsession Sportfishing begins early in the morning. After a safety briefing and gear setup, we head out to the crabbing grounds. Captain Ty’s deep knowledge of local waters and crabbing techniques will guide us to the best spots. We’ll deploy baited crab pots and allow them to soak while we enjoy the beautiful surroundings.

After a few hours, we’ll pull up the pots to check our catch. The excitement builds as the pots come aboard, revealing the bounty of dungeness crab. Back at the dock we offer cooking and cleaning of your crab, and we also offer pack ice to keep your catch fresh and cleaning services if desired.
